No VideoA straightforward Mac OS X tool for converting text selection to speech using default system voices
MAC OS X has a built-in set of voices which can be used for text strings to be spoken by using a keyboard shortcut. You can see the included voices (and switch between them) as well as adjust the speaking rate from System Preferences – Dictation & Speech.GhostReader is a MAC OS X piece of software designed to improve text speaking capabilities when you’re using large documents. It can generate audio tracks you can play back at any time and supports Infovox iVox voices that are available in a large number of languages.
To begin with, load the text you want to be spoken into the app. Currently, text, Word, HTML, RTF and PDF files are supported and you can send them to the app from their (right-click) context menu. From the program’s Preferences pane, you can choose the voice you want to use and tweak the speaking rate.

Infovox iVox is supported by GhostReader, a tool that offers a large collection of voices for a variety of languaes. However, you need to install Infovox iVox as well and then download and install each voice you want to use in GhostReader.
